Coding Guide 1 — Code your Butter Bot in CircuitBlocks

The easy way in: drag blocks instead of writing C++, and change what Butter Bot says and does. Start here if you have never coded before.

Butter Bot's software is open source, and there are two ways into it. This guide is the easy one: CircuitBlocks, our block-based editor. You snap blocks together instead of writing C++, and CircuitBlocks turns them into code the robot runs.

You don't need to install anything — CircuitBlocks runs in your browser at code.circuitmess.com.

New to CircuitBlocks?

These videos are about the editor itself, not about Butter Bot. If you have used CircuitBlocks with another CircuitMess kit, skip ahead.

Want to go further?

CircuitBlocks is enough to change Butter Bot's behaviour, voice lines and reactions. If you want to rewrite the firmware itself — new routines, object detection, a different voice — that starts with Coding Guide 2.
