The Artemis Watch 2.0 has Bluetooth built in. When you pair it with a phone, the watch can show your phone notifications and control what is playing. Activity tracking runs on the watch itself and does not need the phone.
Before you start. The watch arrives fully assembled but not necessarily charged. Charge it with the included cable first — a watch low on battery will often power up but fail to hold a Bluetooth connection. The watch appears in your phone’s Bluetooth list as “Artemis Watch”.
On an iPhone. Pair it straight from Settings → Bluetooth, the same way you would pair headphones. There is no app to install. The watch uses the notification and media services that are already built into iOS, so once the phone accepts the pairing your notifications and your music controls appear on the watch on their own.
On an Android phone. This is different, and it is worth knowing before you buy for that reason. Android has no built-in equivalent of the iPhone notification service, so the watch talks to Android over its own Bluetooth protocol and something on the phone has to speak that protocol — pairing from the Bluetooth menu alone will connect the two but will not bring your notifications across. If you are on Android, message us here with your phone model and we will tell you exactly what is available for it rather than have you guess.
If the watch and phone will not find each other
Charge the watch fully and try again.
Turn Bluetooth off and back on on the phone, then restart the phone.
Keep the two within arm’s reach while pairing.
If the watch was previously paired to another phone, remove it from that phone’s Bluetooth list first. Most phones will not let a second device pair while the first still claims it.
Restore the watch firmware from code.circuitmess.com if you have been coding on it. A program you wrote can take over the radio.
One thing worth knowing: if you have been programming the watch in CircuitBlocks, your program replaces the stock firmware behaviour while it runs. Restoring the stock firmware puts the normal watch and pairing functions back.
