Complete Workshop Bundle FAQ
What is in the bundle?
Three items: the Tools Pack, the Silicone Work Mat and a pair of Protective Goggles.
Are these all the tools I need for every CircuitMess kit?
For a kit that needs soldering, yes. The Tools Pack holds nine items: a soldering iron, a soldering stand, a soldering tip, lead-free solder, a sponge, cutter pliers, safety glasses, a screwdriver and a USB cable. That is the set our soldering build guides are written around.
Not every kit needs it. Several of our newer kits go together with the screwdriver already in the box, and some arrive fully assembled, so check the kit's own page before you order tools you will not use.
Is the Complete Workshop Bundle cheaper than buying the items separately?
Yes. The bundle costs less than buying the Tools Pack, the Silicone Work Mat and the Protective Goggles individually.
Are these items included if I buy a specific CircuitMess project kit?
Not automatically. Each kit and bundle page lists exactly what is in that box, so check there before you order. If you are buying a kit that needs soldering and you do not already own the tools, add the Tools Pack. If you are running a class, ordering more than one pack is sensible.
What is the wattage of the included soldering iron?
The included soldering iron has an 8W power rating, which is sized for the through-hole joints in our kits.
What do the Protective Goggles do?
They shield your eyes from solder splashes and from component legs flying off when you trim them. They are adjustable and fit all head sizes. We do not publish a safety-standard rating for them, so if you need eye protection certified to a specific standard — EN 166 in the EU or ANSI Z87.1 in the US, which some schools and workplaces require — use goggles carrying that mark. The Tools Pack contains a pair of safety glasses as well, so the bundle gives you two options.
What if I already have some of these tools?
Use your own. The Tools Pack exists so you do not have to assemble a set piece by piece, and no part of a build depends on our version of any of these tools.
If you are not sure which of these you need for the kit you are buying, or whether a tool you already own is suitable, email [email protected] before you order.
