What is in the Butter Bot box?

The Butter Bot bundle contains five things.

  • Butter Bot, the robot itself.

  • Butter Bot Controller, a physical remote with a live video feed screen, a joystick and action buttons.

  • Six expansion modules: a gas sensor, a motion sensor, an LED module, a temperature and humidity sensor, an IR module and a perf board. They are hot-swappable, so you fit one at a time and change what the robot can do.

  • Butter Bot work mat, a silicone work mat.

  • Tools Pack, the tools for putting the controller and the modules together. It holds nine items: a soldering iron, a soldering stand, a soldering tip, lead-free solder, a cleaning sponge, cutter pliers, protective goggles, a screwdriver and a USB cable.

The robot arrives fully pre-assembled and ready to use. The controller and the expansion modules are the do-it-yourself part of the kit, and building them is a soldering job, which is what the soldering iron, the lead-free solder and the goggles in the Tools Pack are for.

What is not in the box. The controller runs on three AA alkaline batteries and those are not supplied, so buy them separately. The robot has a built-in rechargeable battery, and the USB-C cable it charges from is included.

Butter Bot is sold as a pre-order, so a new order is a reservation rather than something that ships straight away. Where is my Butter Bot order? explains how to check the timing on an order you have already placed.

If an item on this list is missing when your box arrives, message us here, or email [email protected], with your order number and a photo of everything that came in the box. A part missing from the box, or one that is genuinely defective, is replaced free of charge. A part broken during assembly or use can also be replaced, but that is charged, and we quote the price before we send anything.
