What is the NASA Artemis Watch?
The CircuitMess NASA Artemis Watch 2.0 is a ready-to-use, programmable smartwatch inspired by NASA's Artemis missions. It works as a watch out of the box, and it is built to be coded once you want more from it.
What will I learn with the NASA Artemis Watch?
You will learn how wearable technology works from the inside: what an accelerometer and a gyroscope actually measure, and how a device reads them. From there you can write your own watch faces and small apps, starting simple and going as far as you like.
What age range is the NASA Artemis Watch suitable for?
Ages 9 and up. There is nothing to assemble, so that guidance is about the coding and customisation rather than any build. Younger children can wear and use it straight away and grow into the programming side with a hand from an adult.
Is the watch ready to use out of the box?
Yes. It arrives fully assembled. Charge it with the included cable and you can start using it immediately, with the coding side waiting for whenever you want it.
What features does the NASA Artemis Watch have?
Beyond telling the time, it has a built-in accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and temperature sensor. It pairs with your smartphone over Bluetooth, and you can put your own watch faces, animations and simple apps on the display. It can also be used to control the NASA Perseverance Mars Rover kit.
Can I program the NASA Artemis Watch?
Yes. The usual starting point is CircuitBlocks, our block-based editor, which writes MicroPython for you as you drag blocks together. If you would rather type than drag, you can write that MicroPython by hand, and the watch is also open to advanced C++ development.
