CircuitMess Bit 2.0 FAQ
What is CircuitMess Bit 2.0?
Bit 2.0 is a build-it-yourself 8-bit retro games console. You assemble it, play the games that come on it, and then write your own.
What can I do with Bit?
Three things: play the pre-loaded games, code your own in CircuitBlocks, and unlock extra games with Wacky Robot tokens. The tokens come in the Wacky Robot Bit Expansion packs and in the Wacky Robot kits, both sold separately from the console.
What age range is Bit suitable for?
Ages 7 and up. The build is a matter of fitting electronic components together, and the coding suits that age upwards. Younger children manage it with an adult alongside them.
Do I need any prior experience to build Bit?
No. Bit is designed as a first build, and the guide takes one step at a time and assumes no electronics knowledge. If a step does not look the way the guide shows it, stop there and message us here, or email [email protected], rather than pressing on.
How long does it take to build Bit?
Up to about an hour. It splits comfortably across two sittings if you would rather not do it in one.
What games come pre-loaded on Bit?
A selection of games in the style of classic 8-bit arcade titles, so there is something to play as soon as the build is finished.
Can I code my own games for Bit?
Yes, in CircuitBlocks at code.circuitmess.com. You build the program from drag-and-drop blocks, and the same project can be viewed and edited as MicroPython when you want to work in text. CircuitBlocks runs in a desktop Chromium browser such as Chrome, Edge or Opera.
