My Spencer is saying wrong location/time zone/etc. How can I fix it?

Wrong location, time zone or other stale data on Spencer is almost always fixed by restoring its firmware, which takes a couple of minutes.

  • Connect Spencer to your computer's USB port.

  • Open CircuitBlocks at code.circuitmess.com and press Restore firmware in the top right corner.

  • A window opens asking which device you are restoring. Select Spencer.

  • Wait for the upload to finish. Spencer restarts on its own, and should report the right time and location once it is back online.

If Spencer will not rejoin your network after the restore, work through "My Spencer won't connect to my Wi-Fi network" first, because Spencer needs to be online before it can report the right time and location.

Spencer has been discontinued, but our support for it has not stopped. If the data is still wrong after a restore, message us here, or email [email protected], tell us what Spencer says when you ask it for the time, and include your order number if you still have it. We will work through it with you.
